Information NoiseReport accesses
NoiseReport may request access to the following device information and permissions.
Microphone
NoiseReport uses the device microphone while a noise measurement is actively running in order to estimate surrounding sound levels.
Raw audio recordings are not saved by NoiseReport and are not uploaded to a NoiseReport server.
Location
If you grant location permission, NoiseReport may use your device location to add location information to an incident report.
Location information may include approximate or precise coordinates, location accuracy, and a human-readable location obtained through Android location services.
Location information associated with an incident is stored locally on your device.
Camera and photos
NoiseReport allows you to optionally attach a photograph to an incident.
Photos selected or captured for an incident are stored locally on your device as part of that incident.
NoiseReport does not automatically upload photographs to any NoiseReport-operated server.
Incident information
NoiseReport allows you to create and save incident records containing information such as:
- Measured noise levels
- Date and time
- Measurement duration
- Location information, if enabled
- Noise-source information entered by you
- Notes entered by you
- An optional photograph
Incident records are stored locally on your device.
NoiseReport currently does not operate a cloud account system or a central server for storing incident records.
Email complaint settings
NoiseReport allows you to save email recipient addresses, including To, CC and BCC recipients, along with default complaint subject and body templates.
These settings are stored locally on your device.
NoiseReport does not send emails automatically.
When you choose to prepare an email complaint, NoiseReport passes the relevant information to an email application chosen by you. You remain responsible for reviewing and sending the email.
Sharing reports
NoiseReport can generate incident summaries and PDF reports.
When you choose to share a summary, PDF, photograph, or prepared complaint, information may leave your device through another application or service selected by you, such as an email application, messaging application, or cloud service.
These transfers occur only when you initiate the sharing action.
NoiseReport does not control the privacy practices of third-party applications or services you choose to use for sharing.
Data collection by NoiseReport
NoiseReport currently does not require user accounts and does not operate a backend service that collects or stores your incident information.
NoiseReport does not currently use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, behavioral tracking, or profiling technologies.
Data storage and retention
Incident records, photographs, email presets, and app preferences are stored locally on your device.
They remain stored until:
- You delete individual information where the app provides that option
- You use NoiseReport's history-deletion functionality
- You clear the application's data through Android settings
- You uninstall the application
Uninstalling NoiseReport normally removes locally stored application data according to Android's standard application-storage behavior.
Data security
NoiseReport uses Android's application storage and permission systems to help protect locally stored information.
NoiseReport does not intentionally transmit incident information to a NoiseReport-operated server.
When you choose to share information using another application or service, the security and handling of that information are governed by the selected service and its privacy practices.
Device permissions
You can grant or revoke permissions such as microphone, camera, and location through Android system settings.
Some NoiseReport features may not function if the corresponding permission is denied.
Noise measurements
NoiseReport provides indicative environmental noise measurements using the microphone and audio-processing capabilities of your Android device.
This measurement limitation does not affect how NoiseReport handles your personal data, but is included here for transparency about how microphone access is used.
Children
NoiseReport is not specifically designed for children and does not knowingly operate services intended to collect personal information from children.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if NoiseReport's functionality or data-handling practices change.
The effective date shown at the top of this policy will be updated when material changes are made.
If NoiseReport later introduces features such as cloud storage, user accounts, analytics, centralized incident databases, or other network services, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety declaration will be updated accordingly.
